The Big Ten Conference released its schedules for both the 2016 and 2017 seasons which will each include nine conference games, according to ESPN.com.  This will be the first time in NCAA history that teams will play that amount of games against conference opponents.

The NCAA is attempting to use a “parity-based” approach in the construction of their schedules so the big-name schools will play other big-name schools outside of their division.

For example in 2016 and 2017 Ohio State will play Nebraska and Michigan will play Wisconsin.

In addition, the Big Ten wants their players to get a chance to face every team in the conference before they graduate or leave the school. Therefore, the out-of-division opponents a school faces one year will change the next year.

"I think the real winners in all of this are, No. 1, the players," said Senior Associate Commissioner for the Big Ten Mark Rudner. "They certainly want to play in these kind of games and against this kind of competition. And also the fans are winners. Every week in the Big Ten, we're going to be playing big conference games."

If fans are worried about the popular rivalry games there is no need to fear. The games such as Michigan vs. Ohio State, Northwestern Vs. Illinois and Wisconsin vs. Minnesota will continue in their normal spot during the final weekend of the season.

Although the new schedule will continue to change which teams do battle on the field, not every elite team will face each other. However, Rudner hopes the schedules will ,” even out over time.”
