"Grand Theft Auto 5" the highly anticipated next installment of RockStar Games popular anti-hero video game series made headlines when a new five minute trailer showed off some of the finer points of the game's open world game play earlier on Tuesday. Not only did gamers everywhere take notice, but it appears game developers have as well.

Hideo Kojima, the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise says he's "depressed" by the trailer. While this sounds like a bad thing, the Metal Gear Solid figurehead means it to be quite the opposite. His depression comes from a place of fear and jealousy because he's worried his next game "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," won't be able to stack up against the vast open world created by RockStar Games, meant to mirror Southern California.

On his Twitter, Kojima wrote "'GTA V' new trailer was awesome! This free control is future of the game, way higher than anywhere, makes me depressed as a matter of fact. (cont..)" in another Tweet he finished his thought. "I don't think our "V" can reach that level. Rockstar's team are the best. W/o question they will pull up the possibility of game."

"Metal Gear V" made a big splash by opening Microsoft's Xbox One panel by announcing it would go open world for the first time in the franchise's history. In the past, the franchise has been known for utilizing stealth and setting missions in environments that provide a very linear path to reach the objective. However, opening up a world where Solid Snake and his companions can roam free opens up a whole new set of options for how to best approach a stealth mission.

Meanwhile, RockStar has been working with open worlds for its "Grand Theft Auto" franchise for year now, culminating in its fantastic Grand Theft Auto 4 set in "Liberty City," the game's take on New York City. The open world was vast and the game's story arc took the main character throughout every street, borough and building.

Below is the five-minute game play trailer for "GTA 5" as well as the debut of open world gaming for "MGS 5 at this year's E3. Tell us what you think. Does Kojima have a reason to be depressed or will his open world game be lifted above Rockstar's as he is likely to deliver on yet another phenomenal story in the MGS universe?
