Rosie O'Donnell has filed for divorce from wife Michelle Rounds just two weeks after leaving ABC's "The View."

According to documents obtained by People Magazine, the 52-year-old comedian cited "an irretrievably broken relationship" as the reason for the ending her nearly three-year marriage. The documents, which were filed in New York's State Supreme Court, also stated that O'Donnell and Rounds have a prenuptial agreement.

O'Donnell's divorce filing comes three weeks after she confirmed that she and Rounds, 42, were separated and have been living apart for several months, according to Page Six.

"I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November," O'Donnell's rep Cindi Berger said in a statement earlier last month. "Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.'"

The couple quietly tied the knot in June of 2012 at their home in Nyack, New York, and have shared custody of Dakota, the two-year-old daughter they adopted together. O'Donnell was previously married to Kelli Carpenter from 2004 until their split in 2007 and together have four adopted children.

In a self-made video to fans, O'Donnell said her reason for leaving was triggered by her desire to focus on her health after suffering from a heart attack two years ago.

"The truth is I had a heart attack two years ago and stress is very bad for heart attack survivors. You should minimize your stress, maximize your exercise and control your diet. That's what you need to do for a healthy heart. So that's what I'm doing. I'm minimizing my stress by leaving 'The View.' There's lots of stuff going on at home and there's lots of stuff going on at work. And the only thing I can really control is the work, by leaving. I can turn that volume all the way down to zero and just focus on what I need to focus on, which is my health and my family."

O'Donnell previously co-hosted the daytime talk show during the 2006-2007 season and returned after Barbara Walters' retirement last May. She joined Whoopi Goldberg, who became moderator and new co-hosts actress Rosie Perez and conservative analyst Nicolle Wallace.

ABC also issued a statement on O'Donnell's exit:

"Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us she wanted to exit 'The View,' we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We're delighted she's still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on 'The Fosters,' and we know she'll return to 'The View' often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family."
