Kanye West has added to his collage of skin art, but his newest pieces are sentimental ones - the birth dates of his late mother Donda West and daughter North West.

Wife Kim Kardashian documented the couple's 4 a.m. trip to the north London tattoo shop Sang Bleu on Thursday and posted a picture of the fresh ink on her Instagram account afterward.

"Four in the mornin' and he's zonin' @mxmttt," Kardashian captioned the photo.

The 37-year-old rapper originally wanted to get the roman numerals on his neck, but Kardashian talked him out of it and he opted for a more uniform location - both of his wrists.

North, who was born on June 15, 2013, is Kim and Kanye's only child together.

West's mother passed away in 2007 due to complications during plastic surgery, according to the Daily Mail.

Kanye recently collaborated with Beatles member Paul McCartney on "Only One," a track that was released on New Year's Day and is said to be a tribute to his mother.

West was singing to his daughter "Hello, my only one ... " while holding her on his lap and the tune came to life.

"My mom was singing to me, and through me to my daughter," he said. He then revealed that his name Kanye, chosen by his mother, means "only one," People reported.
