San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s recent fashion choice has some fans up in arms, according to ESPN.com.

On July 4, the QB was spotted celebrating the holiday while sporting a Miami Dolphins cap. The hat had some fans and NFL analysts upset, arguing that Kaepernick should not be wearing apparel associated with a rival NFL team.

On Monday he posted a photo on Instagram, decked in all 49ers red and gold with a jersey which read, “The Golden State” and a 49ers snapback. The photo’s caption read “It’s just swag it ain’t never hurt nobody!”

This attitude is a bit different than what the NFC champ was saying Friday when he posted picture on Instagram of him holding the Dolphins hat.

The caption read: “This the hat y’all mad at? I'm goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won't let me in the building! #ridiculous #y'allmustbebored.”

Kapernick’s sense of style is not only thing critics have been questioning. Some wonder if he can bring the 49ers to another successful season. The University of Nevada product took over for former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith last season and carried the Bay Area team to the Super Bowl. He had a 98.3 passer rating and threw for 1,814 yards along with 10 touchdowns during the regular season. In the postseason he had a 100.9 passer rating and threw for 798 yards with five touchdowns.

During an interview for ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue” he answered the critics’s doubts.

"A lot of people say last year was a fluke," said said Kapernick. "They say defenses are going to figure out how to stop our offense, and we can't do it again. That constantly drives me. Any time I'm told I can't do something or told someone is better than me, that motivates me to prove them wrong.
