"Parks and Recreation" producer Harris Wittels was surrounded by drug paraphernalia at the time of his death, according to Radar Online.

Radar Online's source said that evidence suggests Wittels was using heroin "or something like it" when police found his body on Feb. 19 in his Los Angeles apartment.

"Authorities at the scene recovered a spoon, a syringe cap and balloons," Radar Online reported.

The official cause of death will not be known until next month when toxicology results come back.

Wittels' funeral took place on Thursday in his hometown of Houston. Besides "Parks and Recreation," the comedian has also been credited with working on "The Sarah Silverman Show" and "Eastbound & Down."
