Actress Drew Barrymore will release a book of autobiographical essays, publishing company Dutton told People exclusively on Thursday.

"I love stories that are humorous, emotional and welcoming, and that is my goal in writing this book," Barrymore, who turned 40 on Feb. 22, said in a statement, People reported.

Barrymore wrote her first book, the autobiography "Little Girl Lost," when she was only 14, the New York Daily News pointed out, noting that the book "focused on her stints in rehab, and her first brushes with drugs and alcohol."

The as-of-now-untitled new book will feature tales about the actress "living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying goodbye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led to the most important thing in her life, which is motherhood," the publisher told People.
