Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant underwent a second surgery on his right foot.  Oklahoma City indicated it was a minor procedure to reduce the pain in his foot, and they expect him to return before the regular season ends.

Durant will be out for at least a week as he recovers from a seemingly minor procedure to correct a screw in his right foot, the Thunder announced Sunday.  General manager Sam Presti indicated Durant's latest procedure was done because of the pain he still felt from his original surgery in October, not because of a new injury.

Presti's statement (via the team website):

"In order to alleviate that discomfort, it was determined after consultation with Dr. Robert Anderson, and after receiving a second opinion from Dr. Martin O'Malley, that because the fracture itself has continued to heal as anticipated, there was an opportunity to address irritation from the screw, and make an adjustment to a different piece of hardware within the foot to relieve the symptoms of his soreness.

"The fracture itself is healing excellently by all accounts and we continue to feel good about the prognosis moving forward, but in the short term as he continued to have this discomfort, we wanted to determine the best way to alleviate it while still promoting the continued healing of the initial injury.

"He is expected to be re-evaluated within a week to determine when he will return this regular season."

Durant originally underwent surgery in October to repair a fracture in his right foot, which forced him to miss the first six weeks of the season.  Given the timetable for Durant's return, he'll likely be fully recovered by the start of the playoffs.
