From Brooklyn to D.C. Lena Dunham is headed to ABC's hit series "Scandal" for a guest role on the current fourth season. Entertainment Weekly broke the news and revealed that the "Girls" star and creator has joined the cast in a mysterious role that will air sometime in March.

"Sometimes being a huge fan of a show really does pay off. I head 'Girls' star Lena Dunham will guest in an upcoming episode slated to air in March. While her role is, of course, being kept under wraps, I hear she may have a connection to OPA. Wouldn't it be cool if Hannah Horvath was secretly a Gladiator," EW wrote.

We can't wait to find out how Dunham's new character will tie into the craziness at Olivia Pope & Associates. It's no secret that the 28-year-old actress has long been a fan of the show and its creator Shonda Rhimes.

Besides referencing "Scandal" and the characters in episodes of "Girls," Dunham gushed to Glamour magazine: "Shonda has taken over a full freaking day of the week with her addictive programming. She's done it unapologetically. And 'Sandal' has made wine and popcorn seem like a viable, even healthful, meal."

She also previously revealed that landing a role on the show was her "life's great passion. I want to be like, a senator who did something wrong," she said. Maybe, Dunham will get her wish?!

After a heart-pounding Feb. 19 episode, "Scandal" returns March 5 with episode 14, titled "The Lawn Chair." From a teaser, it looks like the episode will pull from what happened in Ferguson with Darren Wilson and Michael Brown.

At some point, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is called to the scene when the dead boy's father tries to get revenge.

"Next week is gonna be EPIC! For realz. Rest up now- it's a BIG ONE!" Bellamy Young (Mellie) teased on Twitter.
