Cue Kanye West's "Homecoming."

Well, not quite yet actually. But possibly soon.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly trying to put together a deal that would net them Kevin Garnett from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Thaddeus Young, according to ESPN. Garnett was drafted by the Timberwolves with the fifth overall pick in the 1995 draft and spent the first 12 years of his Hall of Fame career there.

The two teams are reportedly in "serious discussions" about the deal, though Garnett would have to approve it due to a full no-trade clause in his contract. The deadline to make a deal ends at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Though a homecoming would make for a nice storyline with Garnett's career close to its end, the 19 year veteran has said that he is not looking for a change this season because he does not want to uproot his family.

But Minnesota is hoping that an opportunity to finish his career where it started - and play for longtime coach Flip Saunders- would soften his stance. Such a trade would mean that Garnett would likely not be playing in the post-season this year, though, as the Timberwolves sit in last place in the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves are interested in bringing back arguably the franchise's most popular player in team history to help mentor the young roster that Saunders has fostered. Rookie No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins would especially benefit from KG's presence.

On the other side of the deal, Young has ties to Nets general manager Billy King, who drafted him while both were with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Nets sit just one game back of the Miami Heat in the race for the No. 8 seed in the East. Young could help them in a second-half push for the post-season.

Garnett is averaging 6.8 PPG and 6.8 RPG in 16 minutes a game this season.

UPDATE 2:41 PM -- Kevin Garnett has reportedly waived his no-trade clause and will join the Minnesota Timberwolves.
