Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez tweeted some good news Tuesday about his rehab. What seemed like a pleasant gesture to worried fans, infuriated Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

On Tuesday Rodriguez tweeted:

Visit from Dr. Kelly over the weekend, who gave me the best news - the green light to play games again!

On Tuesday Brian Cashman voiced his opinion about the tweet.

"You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]," the Yankees general manager said in an interview with ESPN New York. "Alex should just shut the f--- up. That's it. I'm going to call Alex now."

Cashman is most likely upset because Rodriguez's news is the exact opposite of what the GM said just a day earlier.

When asked Monday if Rodriguez would play in rehab games, Cashman said the third baseman would not.

"He has not been cleared by our doctors to play in rehab games yet," Cashman reported. "He's getting closer. There's no doubt about it. But we don't have a date for him to start playing games yet. It could be July 1. It could also be July 5 or maybe June 25."

The GM explained the situation. According to Cashman, Dr. Kelly had no power over Rodriguez's rehab after the former Texas Ranger left New York for Tampa. Kelly was given authority by the team to do the surgery and take charge of Rodriguez's rehab in the Big Apple.

"There is always a chain of command with injuries," said Yankees manager Joe Giardi following the Yankees' 5-3 win Tuesday night "And there has to be. That is the process. It goes through our training staff, our doctors, our GM and then it probably gets to me. This latest controversy adds to the present issues concerning Rodriguez, Yankees and performance enhancing drugs.
