After rain caused Game 1 to be postponed, the Yankees and Dodgers will play a doubleheader on Wednesday.  It'll be the first time the two clubs have faced each other at Yankees Stadium since Los Angeles clinched the 1981 World Series, according to the Associated Press.

The day also marks the first time Dodgers manager Don Mattingly returns to Yankee Stadium as a club manager.  Mattingly, a six-time All-Star and nine-time Gold Glove winner, played his entire 14-year career with the Yankees.

"A good feeling coming back," Mattingly told reporters on Tuesday.  "It's not the building, it's the people.  ... So whether it's this building or the one across the street, it's the same."

Mattingly won't have time to reminisce during the three-game series in the Bronx.  His team has struggled lately, dropping six of the last eight games while dropping 10 games under .500.  The Dodgers (29-39) have fared even worse on the road, winning only four of its previous 17 away games.

"It's been kind of the same story and that's that we haven't been able to win a series," Mattingly told reporters earlier in the week.

New York, meanwhile, returns from a 4-6 trip that culminated on Sunday with a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels.  The club has hit .199 and averaged 2.7 runs in its previous nine games, which will make creating offense without first baseman Mark Teixeira even more difficult.

Teixeira, who left Saturday's game with a hurt right wrist, was placed Tuesday on the 15-day disabled list.  The Yankees also announced slugger Kevin Youkilis will undergo back surgery and miss 10 to 12 weeks.

New York (38-31) will start pitcher Hiroki Kuroda in the first game.  Kuroda (6-5, 2.78 ERA) is 4-1 with a 1.53 ERA in his previous five home starts.  Despite not having won since May 17, Kuroda played well against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday and gave up only two runs, two hits and two walks in eight innings.

New York ultimately fell to Oakland 3-2 in 18 innings.

Pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-2, 2.85 ERA) will take the mound for the Dodgers.  Ryu yielded three runs and a season-high 11 hits in six innings on Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The two teams have split their six games since 1981.  Their last series in 2010 saw the Yankees take two of the three games.
