DC Comics will ramp up production on its own cinematic universe over the next five years, and the "Shazam" movie will play a part in that slate of 10 films, announced in October.

Previous reports have pointed toward the DC property, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Black Adam, standing separate from the rest of the DC cinematic universe, but the wording in a year-end wrap up by DC Blog seems to suggest all 10 films will co-exist.

New Line Cinema, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., will produce "Shazam," which will premiere in 2019. The announcement for the movie preceded Warner Bros. announcing the full DC movie slate.

"For fans who were hoping to see a DC Cinematic Universe similar to what they've seen from other publishers, one that included superheroes other than Superman or Batman, there didn't seem to be a lot to talk about," DC Blog wrote. "That changed on October 15, 2014, when Warner Bros. revealed a full slate of ten DC Entertainment feature films all set within the same universe."

The use of the word "all" in the last sentence would include "Shazam" along with "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," the two "Justice League" films, "Suicide Squad" and the other DC solo films coming out soon.

Last month, New Line president and "Shazam" producer Toby Emmerich made statements that the movie would stand alone from the rest of the DC properties arriving in theaters.

"It feels to me like 'Shazam' will have a tone unto itself," Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly. "It's a DC comic, but it's not a Justice League character, and it's not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies."

Fans may have to wait until April 4, 2019 to see how Black Adam fits in with the other DC superheroes.
