The N.J. Governor demands that President Obama return Tupac's aunt, who received asylum in Cuba after she escaped from prison following her conviction.

Gov. Chris Christie wrote a letter to Obama Friday following Obama's announcement that he wants to re-establish relations with Cuba, CNN reported.

In his letter, Christie urged the president to hand over Joanne Chesimard, who was convicted of killing a New Jersey state trooper in 1973.

Chesimard changed her name to Assata Shakur after she received asylum in Cuba, and has lived there freely since her escape.

As a member of the militant group the Black Liberation Army, Chesimard is on the FBI's most wanted terrorist list and has a $1 million reward for information resulting in her capture.

Furthermore, Christie disagrees with Obama's move to "normalize" relations with Cuba, Fox News reported.

He believes Chesimard should return to U.S. soil before any more steps toward normalization can occur.

Christie is disappointed that Chesimard's return was not a part of the negotiations leading to the decision to normalize relations between the two countries, according to CNN.

The U.S. and Cuba have had a tense relationship for about 50 years. The U.S. set up economic embargoes, travel restrictions among other diplomatic strategies in an effort to isolate Cuba, Fox News reported.
