The Houston Rockets reportedly are close to trading for Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Corey Brewer.  The trade could happen "as soon as Friday," according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

UPDATE (2:40 p.m. ET): Multiple outlets, including Yahoo Sports, have reported Minnesota and Houston have completed a deal for Brewer.  Brewer and Ronny Turiaf sent to Houston for Troy Daniels, according to Yahoo Sports.

Minnesota put Brewer back on the trade block earlier this week, and according to Feigen, the veteran wing could be in Houston by the close of business on Friday.

Per Feigen:

"(Houston) is involved in talks with Minnesota for small forward Corey Brewer, a person with knowledge of the talks said.  A deal is possible by Friday, which is the last day a team can acquire a player and then trade him later in the season.  The Rockets could fit Brewer into their salary cap using the trade exception they got from the Jeremy Lin deal this summer."

As Feigen pointed out, completing a deal by the close of business on Friday would allow Rockets general manager Daryl Morey to trade that player before the Feb. 19 deadline, if he wanted.

The Rockets want Brewer to produce quality minutes off the bench, which would cut back the minutes played by James Harden and Trevor Ariza.

Houston was in talks with Minnesota for Brewer last month, until a wrist injury to Kevin Martin forced Timberwolves president Flip Saunders to take Brewer off the trade block.  Appearing destined for a lottery pick now, however, Saunders reportedly made Brewer available again this week.

Per ESPN:

"Sources told ESPN.com that the Timberwolves, beset with injuries and mired at the foot of the Western Conference with a record of 5-19, are again engaging contending teams in trade discussions for Brewer after making him available in mid-November and then abruptly pulling him off the market.

"The Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers, sources said, remain the most interested suitors for Brewer, but have also been joined by the Los Angeles Clippers.

"ESPN.com reported last month that the Wolves were in active trade discussions with multiple contending teams that had interest in Brewer, most notably Cleveland and Houston."

Brewer is averaging 10.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
