Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller has been sidelined since Oct. 19 due to a broken collarbone, but he is working to make his way back on the field before the season's end. Spiller was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice and hopes to be ready to play this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

"I'll see how the rest of the week goes," Spiller said to the Buffalo News. Spiller added that his playing status will depend on, "how I feel."

While head coach Doug Marrone noted that Spiller is progressing nicely, he wasn't ready to declare him game-ready just yet.

"He looked good," Marrone said. "But he's still working his way back into the football part of it."

Spiller could use as much playing time as he can possibly manage to close out the season, as he can become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason when his contract becomes voidable. Thanks to the injury and poor play earlier this season, Spiller's value has taken a big hit. The former first-round pick managed just 287 rushing yards in his first seven games this year.

Fans and fantasy owners should know whether Spiller will be active for this weekend's game by Saturday.

"Spiller remains on injured reserve with a designation to return," ESPN's Bills reporter Mike Rodak wrote. "The team has until Dec. 24 (21 days after he returned to practice) to add him to their 53-man roster, but they must make that move by 4 p.m. ET Saturday for him to be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders."
