The St. Louis Blues currently have an embarrassment of riches at the forward position.

With the unforeseen rise of Vladimir Tarasenko, who extended his current point streak to four games against the New York Islanders on Thursday, and Jori Lehtera, who now has 24 points on the year, a team already replete with big, physical scorers is now even deeper.

The Blues, despite strong regular season performances though, have had difficulty advancing in the playoffs in recent years - they've lost within the first two rounds in each of the last three postseasons.

As such, general manager Doug Armstrong and head coach Ken Hitchcock may have reached the point where they're ready to make that one big move they think will put them over the top and cement their status as Cup contenders.

To do so, they'll need to deal some of those veteran forward riches.

"You know, there's been a lot of rumblings around the Blues that maybe some of their veterans - Berglund, Oshie, I heard Steen's name came up this week in some report. I didn't see who reported it, but I heard about it - that maybe one of the veterans goes to get them that piece they need. And I'm curious to see if Doug Armstrong feels the need to do that," Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet Canada said on a recent episode of Toronto's Sportsnet 590 as transcribed by NicholsOnHockey.com.

Berglund's name has already popped up in trade rumors this season, with the team reportedly very interested in moving him. He's seen his ice time and scoring decrease - he's currently got eight points.

Oshie, last year's Olympic darling, and Steen would be tough to see go - especially after the two combined for six total points against the Islanders.

But Oshie currently has only 11 points on the season, a year after he managed 60 in 79 games. He's uber talented and still fairly young at 27. His value may never be higher.

The 30-year-old Steen has had issues staying healthy in recent years - he hasn't managed to suit up for 80 games in a season since 2008-09 - but still managed 62 points in only 68 games last year.

Both players would net a considerable return for a Blues team that's hungry for a Cup.
