If anyone deserves a long holiday weekend, it is Sarah Koenig. The veteran journalist of "This American Life" fame has turned the internet and podcast world upside down recently with her hit series, "Serial."

Episodes of the podcast reached five million downloads and streams quicker than any other series on iTunes ever has. It has reached the top of the podcast charts in the US, Canada, UK and Australia, according to Apple.

The series revolves around the real-life 1999 murder of Hae Mine Lee, a high school student in a suburb of Baltimore, and the investigation of it that resulted in Lee's boyfriend Adnan Syed getting a life sentence in prison. The state's case against Syed has some serious holes, as Koenig eloquently points out on a weekly basis.

Between Koenig's unique storytelling method of hiding nothing - she records the podcast weekly as she uncovers clues about the case - and just how interesting the people and the story are, "Serial" has changed the game of podcasting.

So while Koenig and company take the holiday off and make us fans wait until next Thursday for an update on their re-investigation, here are some tips to help you cope, courtesy of AM New York.
