Edmonton Oilers winger Jordan Eberle is a busy man these days - he's supposedly in Philadelphia, Dallas, Pittsburgh and probably a whole bunch of other places in between, all without ever having left Canada.

No, he's not magic. Nor is he the unassuming alter ego of "X-Men" member, Nightcrawler - that would be Kurt Wagner, circus acrobat and perpetual orphan.

Instead, Eberle's name has sprouted up in trade talk time and again recently - partly because he's a high quality player who would prove a serious upgrade for many teams, and partly because the Oilers are quickly turning into a dumpster fire and are currently searching the NHL landscape for a trade - any trade, really - to help alter their fortunes and right the ship.

The latest piece of trade-rumor-mill-ery has Jim Matheson of The Edmonton Journal surmising that, if the Oilers and the St. Louis Blues are serious about coming together on a deal, Eberle is almost assuredly going to be a starting point for negotiations.

If the Edmonton Oilers are indeed sniffing around St. Louis Blues center Patrik Berglund, who is currently playing left wing on that stacked team because the team has Paul Stastny, David Backes and Jori Lehtera firmly planted at center, the Blues conceivably are asking about Jordan Eberle in a package.

As Matheson noted, it wouldn't be a player-for-player swap. Eberle's resume is much more appealing, and his contract is a bit - see; a lot - weightier (h/t to CapGeek.com).

The Oilers have been rumored to be interested in acquiring the services of a top-notch centerman for several days now; Berglund would certainly fulfill that qualification.

The Blues and Oilers have a bit of trade history possibly working in a deal's favor - the two teams came together in 2013 to send Magnus Paajarvi and a second-round draft pick to St. Louis for winger David Perron.

Berglund, who only has four points so far this season, per Hockey-Reference, albeit in a checking role against other top players, would potentially fit in well in Edmonton behind Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
