'Gone Girl' took home the top prize at the 18th annual Hollywood Film Awards, televised for the first time ever on CBS.

Queen Latifah hosted the star-studded event held at the Hollywood Palladium on Nov. 14. The awards ceremony, founded by Carlos de Abreu in 1997, has always been a private affair that kicked off the awards season.

Ben Affleck, the star of "Gone Girl," accepted the top honor for the David Fincher film. The script garnered Gillian Flynn the Hollywood Screenwriter Award for adapting her 2012 novel of the same name.

The awards, recognizing excellence in the art of cinema and filmmaking, handed out 26 awards total, but presented only 18 on screen. Stars such as Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Amy Adams and Johnny Depp helped to honor the night's winners.

"The Imitation Game" starring Benedict Cumberbatch collected four awards. Cumberbatch earned the best actor award for his role as the English mathematician Alan Turing, who cracked the Enigma code used by the German Nazis in World War II.

His co-star Keira Knightley won for best supporting actress and their director Morton Tyldem collected the top honor for his work. Alexandre Desplat received the best film composer award for his score in the movie.

Geena Davis presented her "Speechless" co-star Michael Keaton with the Career Achievement Award. He joins past recipients such as Harrison Ford (2013), Glenn Close (2011), Robin Williams (2006), Diane Keaton (2005) and Kirk Douglas (1997).

CBS preceded the ceremony with a special half-hour red carpet event. "CBS This Morning" co-anchors Charlie Rose, Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King hosted a one-hour post show that featured interviews with the winners and highlights from the night.
