Google started accepting pre-orders for its high-end Nexus 6 smartphone on Wednesday and in minutes it went out of stock.

Google, the world's largest internet search company, launched its coveted Nexus 6 smartphone earlier this month. The exact availability date wasn't confirmed by Google at launch but the product went live on Google Play Store for pre-orders in the U.S. starting Wednesday. Sadly, the device is no longer available for order as it went out of stock within 2 minutes, Android Police reported.

This is certainly great news for Google but a disappointment for several potential buyers who cannot place the orders anymore. A quick poll conducted by Android Police found that nine out of ten people were unable to pre-order the Nexus 6 smartphone from Google Play Store due to "out of stock" sign for the 32GB variant and "coming soon" instruction for the 64GB model.

If it's any consolation, the Google Nexus 6 will soon be offered by carriers and retailers in the U.S. T-Mobile has promptly announced the device's availability on its network starting Nov. 12, but other carriers haven't spilled any details yet. T-Mobile will also offer the handset in 24 easy installments of $27.08 a month for the $649 Nexus 6.

Some buyers who have been able to order the Nexus 6 from the played-up Play Store site, which includes the tech mobile site GottaBeMobile, can expect delivery by Nov. 21. It is safe to assume that the Mountain View based web giant will officially bring the device to all retail stores on the same date.

For those who are unaware of the reason behind the extreme demand for the Nexus 6 smartphone, the specs should quench their curiosity. The high-end Nexus 6 is manufactured by Motorola and sports a monstrous 5.9-inch Quad HD display, same as the latest Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3. It is powered by the latest 2.7Ghz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and most importantly one of the first devices to feature Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Nexus 6 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a dual-LED ring flash, a 2-megapixel front shooter and a massive 3,200mAh battery. The smartphone is paired with a Turbo Charger and boasts front facing speakers and an aluminum ring wrapping the bezel.

Google is offering the Nexus 6 through pre-orders but it appears you have to wait until the web giant stocks up before reopening sales. The smartphone is available in blue and white colors with 32GB and 64GB variants for $649 and $699, respectively.
