A body-snatcher who dug up the remains of a young girl and stole her from her coffin, then turned her into a human doll almost 10 years ago was finally caught.

Daily Mail reports:

Anatoly Moskvin, 47, broke into the graves of 29 young girls and dressed them up in stockings, makeup, and knee-length boots to make them look like dolls. He even placed musical boxes inside their rib cages.

Police said Moskvin's acts don't appear to be motivated by sexual desires. "He loathed sex and thought it was disgusting," one officer said.

Moskvin admitted to digging up the graves and mummifying the victims, but the court found him mentally ill.

He explained his motive to police:

"I was waiting for science to find ways for these girls to live again," he told the authorities. "I wanted to be an expert in making mummies ... I wanted to communicate with these girls."

Moskvin was not random with his selection of young girls' corpses either.

"I lay on the grave and tried to get in touch with her. I listened to what she said. Often they asked me to take them out for a walk."

Natalia Chardymova, 42, was haunted by Moskvin for the nine years he had her daughter Olga in his apartment, who died at 10-years-old after she was killed by a drug addict who clubbed her over the head with a metal bar.

"You can't begin to imagine it, that somebody would touch the grave of your child, the most holy place in this world for you," Chardymova tells Daily Mail. "We had been visiting the grave of our child for nine years and we had no idea it was empty. Instead, she was in this beast's apartment."

Chardymova and her husband, Igor, felt that someone was at Olga's grave in May 2003 because a wreath was moved. Moskvin's records found in his house indicated he took Olga from her grave that same month.

Moskvin often left notes on Olga's grave remembering her birthday, holidays, first day of school, what grade she was in, and last day of the school year, calling Olga "Little Lady."

After the trial Moskvin was ruled as schizophrenic and was sent to a psychiatric clinic for treatment.

"The only way for him to get out of this clinic is through another court action, where prosecutors and lawyers will take part."
