The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy have agreed to a seven-year contract extension worth close to $100 million, according to Pro Football Talk.

The Bucs selected McCoy with the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. The former Oklahoma Sooner has 17 tackles and two sacks so far this season. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay is just 1-5 in their first year under coach Lovie Smith. Locking in their franchise player is a step in the right direction, however.

The Buccaneers will host the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
