Joanne Borgella's family announced on Facebook that the reality TV star and plus-size model lost her battle with cancer. The 32-year-old star of NUVOtv's "Curvy Girls" died early Saturday morning (Oct. 18), a little over a year after she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer of the womb.

"To God be the glory! With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne. On Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 5:45AM, Joanne Borgella Ramirez was called by the Lord to heaven," the post read. "At an early age, Joanne made a choice to serve and trust the Lord; and since her diagnosis over a year ago, Joanne made a choice to also be a fighter and share her journey with the world. Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered. Although our family is suffering with great loss, we find comfort in the closeness Joanne shared with the Lord. We know her spirit still shines and will continue to live on in heaven."

The model was very open about her battle with cancer and often shared updates on her condition via Facebook videos and posts. Her last update was on Sept. 23, when she wrote, "heading back to radiation for 2 procedures!! God js (sic) with us!! I have lots to fill you in on...The presence of The Lord is here. Prayers up!! I love you guys."

Denise Bidot, who costarred on "Curvy Girls" with Borgella wrote on Facebook that she was still in shock over the news.

"Woke up and heard that the beautiful Joanne Borgella lost her battle with cancer. My heart is heavy and I can barely process my thoughts as I sit here in hair and makeup on set. I remember all the laughs, tears, Joanne you were an amazing woman and I will always cherish the moments we had," Bidot posted. "I hope you are up in heaven singing your heart out."

"Still in shock after receiving the bad news," another "Curvy Girls" costar, Lornalitz Baez wrote. "I am truly heart broken. I will always remember how Joanne made me laugh, our talks, the time we shared. Joanne was beautiful inside and out. One in a million. Gone way too soon."

Besides appearing on "Curvy Girls," a show that followed the lives of several plus-sized models, Borgella was a contestant on "American Idol" in 2008.
