Joe Francis sex tape with girlfriend Abbey Wilson has been stolen from his private collection and is currently being shopped around to the highest bidder, TMZ reports.

Joe Francis, "Girls Gone Wild" founder, seems to have gone a bit wild himself with his leaked sex tape. The "hardcore" sex tape features "several sexual liaisons", according to the report, and was stolen from his girlfriends iPad. Abbey Wilson's tablet was stolen from her bag while she was at the Los Angeles airport (LAX). Wilson, 25,  won the Girls Gone Wild 'Search For The Hottest Girl In America' contest last year.

Francis has recently been convicted of misdemeanor counts of assault and false imprisonment. Francis, 40, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison when he is sentenced in July. He is furious that a private affair is out there for all to see and is threatening criminal and civil action if the sex tape is made public.

His lawyer, David Houston, told TMZ, "It is not only unfortunate, but it is a crime. As such, this office will take all necessary steps to determine who in fact has done this and who is attempting to distribute the video."

Houston added that they've already contacted the authorities and issued a stern warning to the culprit: "When we catch you, we will see that you are prosecuted to the fullest extent of both the criminal and civil laws."

Francis claims he has nothing to do with the tape's release and is desperate to stop it from going public.

Meanwhile, "Girls Gone Wild" earlier this year filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
