It seems like former child star Amanda Bynes has hit a roadblock in her recovery. The 28-year-old was arrested on Sunday (Sept. 28) for driving under the influence. At the time, reports said Bynes was "out of it" and "under the influence of a stimulant" when Van Nuys police pulled her over.

A source close to the situation told TMZ that Bynes was allegedly on Adderall when she was arrested.  According to the site, she was prescribed the drug by her doctor and had taken it shortly before she was stopped.

Police said Bynes reportedly ran a red light and then stopped in the middle of an intersection. She was taken to the LAPD Van Nuys division where she failed multiple sobriety tests. She was booked and arrested for DUI.

Bynes already posted her $15,000 bail. According to TMZ, this arrest could spell trouble for the former Nickelodeon star because she was on probation for reckless driving. However, because her doctor prescribed the Adderall could help Bynes' case.

The source also said that family and friends are worried about the actress because she moved out of her parents' home and into her own Orange County apartment. The source alleges that Bynes is smoking weed and drinking again.

The actress' parents did have a conservatorship but it ended earlier this month and they decided not to extend it. According to TMZ, Bynes' parents believe she was on the right track to recovery but everyone else is worried.

The source also told the site that Bynes stopped taking her medication for bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia. The source told TMZ that "things started going haywire" once the conservatorship ended.

According to Radar Online, Bynes has also flunked out of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising where she was studying to become a fashion designer.

"Amanda just stopped going to classes. Everything had been going very well for her up until the conservatorship ended," the source told Radar. "Her instructors tried to reach out to Amanda, given her history of very public breakdowns, but got no response. As a result, Amanda flunked out."

"This is truly just sad," the source added. "Amanda had been making such great strides. Several networks were in contact with her lawyers about doing an in-depth interview, and follow Amanda around New York City for Fashion Week. A couple of weeks ago, those talks abruptly stopped, and no one knew why. Now, it's very clear. She needs to get back into treatment!"
