James Frey's publishing company, Full Fathom Five, will go against tradition and publish one new e-book a week, according to Mashable. The publisher's new digital imprint will appeal to readers discovering stories and novels online with authors who possibly don't have a publishing deal with one of the Big Five trade publishers: Hachette, Macmillan, Penguin-Random House and Simon & Schuster.

One new book will come out every Wednesday and be available at all the major e-book retailers. FFF Digital will release its first title, "The Apartment," by Amanda Black on Oct. 1.

"The FFF Digital team has helped me fully realize and achieve my dream of becoming a published author," Black told Mashable. "They have provided me with so much support along the way."

Frey goes a step farther to incorporate a new generation of writers into his brand. He will host a two-month-long contest to find new authors that could result in a publishing deal and a $10,000 cash prize.

Authors can submit their work between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30. The grand prize winner receives the publishing deal and cash. Four other finalists will receive a FFF Digital deal. All submissions are available for publication.

"We are looking forward to discovering unconventional projects that have the potential to connect with a wider community of readers that haven't been available to them before," Frey told Mashable.

Frey established Full Fathom Five in 2009. It has published more than 40 books, TV shows, movies and video games, including "I Am Number Four," which became a feature film. The new digital platform will also connect its authors with possible film and TV opportunities.
