In a recent statement, actor Matt Bomer hinted that White Collar Season 6 will hold many unexpected twists and turns.

Fans' hearts were broken when Matt Bomer didn't take home an Emmy this year. While The Normal Heart still ended up receiving a trophy, most of the performers in the project lost out to teams working on Sherlock and American Horror Story: Coven.

Though Bomer has been a part of many prestigious projects, he's best known to many as the sexy, witty Neal Caffery on White Collar. The actor also seems proud to be known by his character. As he walked the Red Carpet during the recent Emmy Awards ceremony, he was asked how emotional it was getting through those final episodes with his cast and crew.

"It was cathartic, because we really do like each other ... It was hard to say goodbye ... Now we have to take the love we had on that job and take it to whatever is next," he said, according to media reports.

Bomer added that he and the writers and producers "tried to give [the fans] something that would be in traditional 'White Collar' form," which means a number of twists and surprises every step of the way. Given that the final season is only going to be around six or so episodes, we imagine that this was even more of a challenge for them to try and meet than usual.

In an interview with TVLine, Bomer, who plays the role of Neal Caffrey, stated his feelings on the show's final run.

"There's this undercurrent of I don't want to say sadness, but... What's the French word...? We're all having a blast working together. It's just like old times like it's always been, but underneath it all, we all know that we're going to have to say goodbye. We're all dreading that moment because we have been such a close-knit unit for six years. So it'll be sad to say goodbye. All good things must come to an end!" he said.

Garson took to Twitter with his final message to fans of the show, writing, "Our last day together. I don't have words for this, rough rough day for sure. @MattBomer @WhiteCollarUSA."

It is expected that Caffrey, an intelligent and very talented con-artist and FBI informant, will still be dealing with a lot of criminals in his pursuit towards freedom.

Earlier last month, it was revealed that Bomer has come up with a "wild idea" for the show's ending.

"I had this wild idea about how the story should end, and I talked to Tim [DeKay] about it and I talked to Willie [Garson] about it and we talked to [series creator] Jeff Eastin," Bomer said toTV Line. "Everybody put their two cents in and were vibing on it. I think we came up with something that's really fun and fitting. When I thought about it, it was really the only way we could end the show. I hope everyone's happy with it."

The new season of "White Collar" does not yet have a premiere date, but viewers are still banking on either the end of this year, or potentially the start of 2015.

Season 5 wrapped with the abduction of Neal by an unknown man, while Peter decided to not take up his new job at Washington, D.C. So fans are eager to see what happens next. According to initial feelers, the final season may open with Peter and Mozzie teaming up to find Neal's location and the person behind his kidnapping.
