Girl group Danity Kane has split for the second time amid reports of a violent altercation between two of its members. The group made the announcement via statements on their website. News of the split comes on the heels of reports that Dawn Richard allegedly punched Aubrey O'Day while they were in the studio.

In one statement on the site, O'Day tried to explain to fans what led to the break up.

"During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I speaking to another associate," O'Day wrote, without specifying who allegedly hit her.

"To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me," she added. "This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family."

O'Day hinted that the person who hit her had a bad attitude that was only getting worse.

"Over the past year of constant engagement, I tried tirelessly to sympathize with behavior I could not understand. But, I watched her behavior get darker and darker," the singer wrote. "And I fear it will only get worse."

While O'Day didn't want to name names in her statement, member Shannon Bex was quick to place the blame on Richard.

"As for the actions that have brought us to this broken ending, I cannot speak for anyone or explain their internal struggles that prompted this heartbreaking sequence of events," she wrote. "All I know is what I have seen. I did not witness a shouting match, a cat fight or a brawl. I witnessed a single direct punch... As you can tell, I have been avoiding saying names. However, this was my personal reaction to escalating events that led up to my overall frustrations with Dawn... months ago."

TMZ previously reported that Richard and O'Day got into a physical altercation when Richard walked in on a private meeting between O'Day and Bex. A source told the site that the two ladies were recording tracks and having private business meetings about the group without Richard's knowledge.

So far, Richard has not released a statement but tweeted a link TMZ's story. The third member, Aundrea Fimbres, had announced her plans to step away from the group back in May so she could start a family with her fiance.

Danity Kane, which originally consisted of four members, reunited last August after breaking up in 2009. When the group announced their reunion, D.Woods said she did not want to come back.
