Atlanta can win the series with a win Monday.  They won two straight against San Diego, including Sunday's 8-3 victory in Game 3.  The bulk of Atlanta's offense came in the third inning, when they scored six runs on singles and doubles.

Braves starting pitcher Mike Minor gave up three runs on eight hits through 6 2/3 innings, marking a continuing improvement from last season, as noted by Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez.

"I thought it was better than a quality start," Gonzalez said.  "It was outstanding and we'll go from there.  ... I think the thing that was really, really visible was that his arm action and his delivery was there, I'm not going to say every pitch, but 90 percent of the time.  He was able to command his fastball on both sides of the plate and that was because of his delivery."

Minor credited his improving play to adjustments made during the offseason and throughout the  season.

"There are some mechanical things that we focused on," Minor told the Associated Press.  "There are some different things I've been doing this year.  We looked at film of last year and we found three big things I was doing different this year.  We tried to change them but I think it's going to take time.  I feel like it's going to be hard to do it right in the middle of the season, so it's going to be something that I will slowly adjust."

Ervin Santana (9-6, 3.87 ERA) starts Monday for Atlanta.  He will be opposed by Padres pitcher Jason Lane (0-0, 0.00), who will become the oldest pitcher in seven years to make his first major league start, according to the Associated Press.
