There's more exciting news for Season 2 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." According to E! News fans will see more of Cobie Smulders, who plays Agent Maria Hill. Executive producer Jed Wheldon told the site that the show had "plans to bring her in" and fans would "see her" when the superhero show returns.

"We love Cobie, we love the character, she's so great," EP Maurissa Tancharoen added.

"She fits really nicely on the show and has good chemistry with [Phil] Coulson and the others," Jeffrey Bell told E!.

There will also be a new addition to the cast. TV Line is reporting that "Xena: Warrior Princess" star Lucy Lawless has joined in an unspecified role. Even though details about Lawless' character have not been revealed, the site claims producers have been looking to fill the role of "Mary Maloney," described as someone who has "effortless sex appeal" and can "command any room."

It was previously rumored that the second season of "S.H.I.E.L.D." would bring back a lot of familiar faces and introduce viewers to some new ones. In Season 2, Coulson is trying to rebuild SHIELD after being appointed as the new director.

ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee told TV Line at a press tour that Coulson's new job "triggered a whole lot of [Season 2] storylines that we're reading at the moment, and I'm loving those scripts. I feel good."

Wheldon confirmed to TV Line that "there is a [time] jump" but wouldn't say how much time has passed between Seasons 1 and 2.

"It might be a little skip, it might just be a hop-skip jump... But yea, a little time has passed," he said.

Also rumored to return is BJ Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett and Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward.

Season 2 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns Sept. 23.
