The man behind the development of Google Glass and lenses, Babak Parviz,  has moved on to Amazon after three years with Google.

Google has lost yet another high-ranking employee this year. Google X director and the man behind the development of Google Glass and lenses has moved to online retail giant Amazon. Babak Parviz's departure from Google comes shortly after he handed the Google Glass realm to Ivy Ross in May.

Parviz has made few public appearances in relation to the development of Google's futuristic projects. Parviz last appeared at the Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco last week, where he described the Glass as the future of digital computing. According to 9to5Google, Parviz predicted the technology to be a standard among people in the next decade or so.

Parviz announced his change in employment through Google+  Sunday. The status update was vague with a picture of Amazon logo tagged with "status: super excited." At the same time, Parviz updated his "About" section on Google+ to answer puzzled followers on his network.

"Having worked at companies ranging from tiny start-ups to huge corporations and universities in Europe and the US, I have found each one to be fun in its own unique way. I founded and led a few efforts at Google (among them, Google Glass and Google Contact Lenses are public so far prior to moving to Amazon and work on a few other things now...," according to Parviz's Google+ account.

Parviz kept several details under the wrap such as his new role at Amazon. Parviz noted his achievements with Google on Google Glass and Google Smart Contact Lenses and hinted at other products that are yet to be unveiled. His expertise in wearables and future tech does not suit any of Amazon's current categories. Unless the online retailer has plans to expand its offerings from smartphone and e-readers.

Parviz's exit from the company follows the departure of Google's lead Glass engineer Adrian Wong, who left in May to join Facebook-owned Oculus.
