Motorola announced the winner of the Moto 360 design face-off after sifting through over a thousand design submissions over a course of one month.

Motorola, renowned smartphone maker, announced its first Moto 360 smartwatch in March and launched a competition calling for designs for its watch face in May. The Moto 360 design face-off was well-received and people submitted more than a thousand possible designs. Finally, Motorola has revealed the winning design (pictured above) by David Pascual. The winner was chosen based on the highest number of +1s received on Google+.

Motorola announced the winner on its official blog, Wednesday, after narrowing down the list from 1300 submissions. The phone maker recruited a dedicated panel of experienced judges, including Bryce Gruber, design chief at Motorola, Jim Wicks, lead of wearables UX and UI Rick Hoobler, Danny Jacobs, Dickon Isaacs, and Leslie Hicks of Moto 360 team, to choose the ten best designs. The final decision was left in the hands of Google+ users who voted for Pascual's design with more than 14,000 +1s.

The top ten finalists including Pascual were, Tyler Allicock, Jose Azua, Layton Diament, Pawel Hanusowski, Dave McCarthy, Aramis Negron, Will Rodriguez, Paul Stringer, and Jason Wang and their designs can be found on Google+.

Motorola will gift Pascual a free Moto 360 smartwatch when it will be available and a chance for his design to be featured on the watch.

According to Pascual's Google+ profile, he is an MBA student in the Georgetown University and a resident of Alexandria, Virginia. Pascual is a graduate of media arts and design from James Madison University, which along with his love for gadgets won him the contest.
