Jose Canseco will attempt to make yet another comeback to the sport that he loves when he takes the field for the Fort Worth Cats of the United League. Calling it a comeback might be a bit of a stretch, the former Texas Rangers slugger is only going to play for the Cats for their opening series against the Edinburg Roadrunners.

Canseco has spent a little more than a decade out of Major League Baseball, a league that he claims blackballed him. During that time Canseco's life has been a cavalcade of comeback attempts, publicity stunts, and minor run ins with the law. Most notably Canseco wrote a book, "Juiced," in which he discussed his steroid use as well as named other major league players who used steroids.

Lately Canseco has used his Twitter in an attempt to stay in the media spotlight. Recently he tried to convince twitter followers that he should be the next pope. Weeks later Canseco campaigned on Twitter to be the next mayor of Toronto despite the fact that he would be ineligible to do so, according to Yahoo.

When Canseco makes his debut for the Fort Worth Cats he will be playing against a team managed by his twin brother Ozzie, a fact that Canseco is quite excited about according to a press release from the Cats.

"I'm excited to come to Fort Worth and mentor the young ballplayers," Canseco said. "I love Dallas/Fort Worth and I can't wait to go up against Ozzie."

Byron Pierce, the co-owner of the Cats, was ecstatic to welcome the slugger with 462 big league home runs to his name to the team.

"We are excited to have him back in Texas and especially in Fort Worth, where he has many fond memories of his time with the Texas Rangers," Pierce said.

When Canseco takes the field for the Fort Worth Cats it will certainly be a thrill for the young players he faces and plays alongside.

Fans of the Fort Worth Cats will be hopeful that Canseco won't give a repeat performance of his most remembered highlight playing in the Lone Star State. While in the outfield for the Rangers Canseco lost a ball hit by Cleveland's Carlos Martinez in the lights and the ball struck Canseco in the head. Then the ball bounced over the fence for a home run.
