TNT analyst Steve Kerr is expected this week to decide whether he will accept the New York Knicks coaching job.  While his decision is expected soon, he may be waiting to see if the Golden State Warriors fire coach Marc Jackson.

Talks between Kerr and Knicks president Phil Jackson have been ongoing, and a decision could finally come as early as Monday night.

"Steve Kerr is scheduled to broadcast Game 1 of the second-round NBA playoff series between the Thunder and the Clippers in Oklahoma City on Monday night with longtime TNT partner Marv Albert.  That could be Kerr's last telecast, with a league source saying matters with the Knicks should progress this week," Marc Berman of the New York Post wrote on Monday.

Berman reported on Saturday a source had said Kerr would likely make his decision soon after the weekend.

Kerr, though, reportedly would prefer coaching the Warriors and could be hoping Golden State reaches a decision about Marc Jackson in the next day or two.

While Kerr may want to take over the Warriors, Berman doesn't expect Kerr to wait long for Golden State to decide their coach's future.

"Sources have indicated Kerr may have interest in listening to the Warriors, but isn't willing to wait, and that Kerr believes his best chance of success as a rookie head coach is learning under Phil Jackson," Berman wrote.

Mark Jackson has the support of his players, but his relationship with the front office has reportedly soured.

"Mark Jackson doesn't have one GSW front office ally who'll make a case to ownership to keep him," Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted on Saturday.  "'He's on an island,' league source says."

The Warriors were eliminated on Sunday from the first round of the playoffs, which could be prompt Golden State to fire him this week.

"Nearly all the recent buzz regarding Jackson has pointed to him likely being shown the door during the offseason," ESPN's Tom Carpenter wrote on Sunday.  "Now that the Warriors have been ousted in the first round, his seat couldn't be any hotter."
