Ladies, break out the tissues and cozy blankets - the third and final "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movie is now in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lena, Bridget, Tibby and Carmen, the four childhood friends tied together by a magical pair of jeans, are reuniting on the big screen, six years after "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" hit theaters.

The first two films, released in 2005 and 2008, starred Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn, but there is no word on whether the actresses will reprise their roles in the upcoming film.

Ken Kwapis, who directed the original film in 2005, will reportedly return to direct the final movie. Alloy Entertainment will be developing the young adult franchise's last book, "Sisterhood Everlasting," written by author Ann Brashares.

"The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy's most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting nearly a decade after the first film was released," Alloy Entertainment President Les Morgenstein said in a statement. "The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again."

The story takes place 10 years in the future, after the four friends have lost touch. Tibby tries to bring her friends back together for a trip to Greece.

"On the cusp of turning thirty, Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget are now living separate lives, out on their own," Amazon's official description for the book reads. "Yet despite having jobs and men that they love, each knows that something is missing: the closeness that once sustained them. Carmen is a successful actress in New York, engaged to be married, but misses her friends. Lena finds solace in her art, teaching in Rhode Island, but still thinks of Kostos and the road she didn't take. Bridget lives with her longtime boyfriend, Eric, in San Francisco, and though a part of her wants to settle down, a bigger part can't seem to shed her old restlessness. Then Tibby reaches out to bridge the distance, sending the others plane tickets for a reunion that they all breathlessly await. And indeed, it will change their lives forever - but in ways that none of them could ever have expected."

In a reunion interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, the actresses said they remained close friends after filming for the first two movies wrapped. Ferrera expressed interest in making another film.

"The characters are all basically the ages that we are now," Ferrera said of Sisterhood Everlasting. "I know that the four of us would love [to make another film], and it would be wonderful."

The first film was released earned $42 million worldwide. The sequel followed in 2008, earning $44.4 million globally.
