Miley Cyrus is the cover girl of Seventeen Magazine's May issue much against her wishes. Seventeen insists her popularity demands a repeat from the March cover

Miley Cyrus always gets things done her way. Her stardom has earned her the right to pick and choose the projects she wants to do. However, it seems like the American teenagers' magazine "Seventeen" doesn't care about what Cyrus wants. Against the singer's wishers, the magazine has featured her on the cover of its May issue that will hit stands later this week.

Because of Cyrus' unwillingness to participate, the May edition will include stock photos of her as well as a write-up inside its pages - none of which were approved by Cyrus' team, a source told WWD.  The source revealed that Cyrus has nothing against the magazine but is very choosy about the magazine she covers.  Explaining their decision to feature Cyrus in their magazine, a spokesperson said that the magazine readers are very fond of this troubled blonde and love reading about her.

"Seventeen readers love Miley Cyrus, and we cover her every chance we get," said a Seventeen spokesperson. "She ranked high on the March issue's Girl Power List. Our readers asked for more, so we responded as quickly as possible. Miley's currently on tour promoting 'Bangerz,' so what better time than now to celebrate her and give our readers what they want."

Alternatively, the songstress opted to front Elle's May issue that will be hitting newsstands the same time Seventeen magazine does. It seems like a good option for Cyrus because ELLE is more fashion driven and in line with her stardom at this stage of her career.

She opened up to the fashion bible about the time when she thought she would die without her Disney career and longtime boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

"When I was with (Liam) or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn't there to carry me anymore or if I didn't have him," Cyrus, 21, said in an interview for Elle magazine's May issue.

However, she's recovered from all her past troubles now and is "fine."

"I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally okay, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn't have a boyfriend," she said.

Fine would be an understatement. The former Disney star seems to be having the time of her life. She's been linked to many leading men of Hollywood and has been sported partying hard on various occasions. Tabloids recently reported a pregnancy scare for her.  Her single "Wrecking Ball" topped charts and remained at the number one position for a long time. It seems that she is one of the few stars that have completely broken away from her Disney princess image.

The transformation has however, come with a hefty price tag. Her weird tactics have rubbed many people the wrong way. Last year it was reported that Cyrus had bagged the cover girl role of a Vogue issue but was pulled out at the last minute when Editor Anna Wintour caught wind of her VMAs antics

"I can't say too much. But it was where I was kind of going to have to do this trade-off, and I wasn't willing to," Cyrus told the New York Times, via Hollywood Reporter.
