Former NFL star Vontae Davis was discovered dead on Monday in his Florida mansion's workout area, sources told TMZ Sports. 

A tragic incident occurred when Davis, a former football player for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 35. Hiis body was found in his Southwest Ranches home.

Former NFL Athlete Vontae Davis Found Dead

Vontae Davis was discovered dead in the gym of his grandmother's Southwest Ranches, Florida, home. 7News Miami reported that Davis was identified as the owner by the police, although the property may be registered in his grandmother's name. His death was found after a string of incidents that raised questions regarding the former cornerback's health.

The previous year, Davis made news when he was found sleeping on the side of a highway in South Florida, having wrecked his Tesla. Concerns were raised regarding his well-being as a result of this episode, which also brought attention to any deeper issues.

Police audio obtained by TMZ Sports, revealed a woman who remains unidentified called 911 to report the discovery of Davis' body in the gym area of the house.

According to reports, she struggled to locate him at first, but dispatchers urged her to find a defibrillator once they found his body. It remains uncertain if the woman or anyone else in the house made any efforts to retrieve or use it against Davis.

On Tuesday, cleanup and restoration teams, together with investigators and security staff, were seen at the property.

Remembering an NFL Career

Davis played for a number of different teams during his decade-long career, and he played in 121 games during that time.

He was selected to two Pro Bowls when he was playing with the Colts.

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Colts, expressed sadness at Davis' passing, recalling him as a terrific teammate and player, and extending his condolences to Davis' family.

Davis's journey in the NFL saw him transition from the Dolphins to the Colts in 2012, a move documented in an episode of the show "Hard Knocks." His trade to the Colts was a pivotal moment, revealing his emotional connection to his grandmother, whom he regarded as a hero and primary caregiver.

Davis joined with the Buffalo Bills in 2018. However, he suddenly retired during a game in September of that same year, citing an awareness of his physical limits as the reason for his decision.
