Sam Asghari Reflects on Divorce From Britney Spears: 'It Was a Blessing'

Sam Asghari will not speak negatively about his ex, Britney Spears. Asghari, 30, discussed his divorce from the pop star in a recent interview with People, expressing gratitude for the time they spent together. "People drift away and move forward," he said.

Asghari initiated the divorce process from Spears, 42, in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. They got married in June 2022 following their engagement in September 2021. They had been in a relationship since 2017, following Asghari's collaboration with Spears on her 'Slumber Party' music video, as per to USA Today.

During a recent interview, Sam Asghari discussed his past relationship with Britney Spears, focusing on the positive aspects and showing appreciation for the time they shared. Asghari reflected on the separation, saying, "It was a blessing to share life with someone for a long time."

Maintaining a forward-looking perspective, Asghari stated, "I will continue growing" and emphasized the positive mindset he maintains, shaped by his life experiences. "I come from a place where we celebrate our past," he mentioned, describing his past as a "blessing and beautiful."

Spears, in her memoir titled 'The Woman In Me,' referred to Asghari as "a gift from God," expressing her sentiments about their relationship. Asghari, upon learning about the mention in the memoir, shared, "That made me smile. I'm freaking proud of her, and I hope she takes over the world."

Late last year, Asghari collaborated with PETA to release ads addressing pet adoption, featuring him alongside the five dogs he shared with Spears. Despite speculation that the ads hinted at the brevity of their marriage, Asghari clarified that there is no animosity between them.

"I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship and they talk badly about each other. That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life," he affirmed, according to Daily News.

Reiterating his positive stance on the relationship, Asghari emphasized, "I never understood when people part ways and they talk badly about each other." He acknowledged the significance of the time spent together and expressed gratitude for the positive experiences.

At the time of their split, Sam cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce. Britney Spears, sharing her feelings on Instagram, acknowledged the end of their six-year relationship, stating, "Six years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but... I'm not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody's business!"

Britney Spears conveyed appreciation for her fans' support and candidly shared, "I've been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may seem perfect, but it's far from reality, and I think we all know that. I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel, but for some reason, I've always had to hide my weaknesses."
