U.S. President Joe Biden shared his remarks during a speech on Thursday, Feb. 29. He said that China is very determined to dominate the future of the auto industry across the world.

Joe Biden warned that by using its policies, Beijing could flood the U.S. auto market with its vehicles. He added that this poses risks to the national security of the American nation.
The U.S. president promised America's people he would not let this happen while he was the leader. Now, an investigation targeting Chinese smart cars will be opened.
Biden Admin Claims Chinese Smart Cars Spy on Americans
According to CNN's latest report, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that an investigation into Chinese-made smart cars will be opened.
This probe could lead to regulations restricting certain automobile components used in the United States, especially those from China. The investigation reflects the Biden Administration's concerns regarding China's car technologies.
Previously, Joe Biden warned that Beijing could exploit charging station connections and navigation data to sabotage infrastructure or collect intelligence.
"Connected vehicles from China could collect sensitive data about our citizens and our infrastructure and send this data back to the People's Republic of China (PRC)," said the U.S. president.
"These vehicles could be remotely accessed or disabled," he added.
China is not the only country that U.S. national officials are concerned about when it comes to connected vehicles. Iran, Venezuela, and Russia could also exploit smart cars to acquire sensitive details of the U.S.

US DOC Secretary Says Smart Cars Are Like Smartphones
People used their iPhones to scan the QR code on the car on March 18, 2017, in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The mostly electric share cars, are ready for Chinese users in minutes once they complete the required registration via an app.
US DOC Secretary Gina Raimondo said smart cars are like "smartphones on wheels." Because of this, she believes that these vehicles pose a serious national security risk.
"These vehicles are connected to the internet. They collect huge amounts of sensitive data on the drivers," said Raimondo via Yahoo News.
She was referring to sensitive details, including biometric information and personal data. Raimondo said that it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see how China could exploit smart cars to gather information at scale.
Gina Raimondo stated that data collection is just among the concerns posed by smart cars. She explained that bad actors could also manipulate these advanced vehicles.
