A high school basketball player in Illinois died during a game. The incident happened on Jan. 25, when the girl's junior varsity basketball teams of Tri-Point High School and Momence High School were competing.
Amari Crite (14-year-old) was among the players of Momence High School during that basketball matchup. However, little did they know that an unfortunate incident was about to happen during the game.
While the game was happening, the HS basketball player suddenly collapsed on the court. Sadly, the young athlete died that night.

According to Fox News' latest report, the HS basketball player was running back to the defensive side of the court when she suddenly collapsed.
After the shocking incident, Momence School District Supt. Shannon Anderson confirmed the passing of the 9th-grade athlete.
"We are deeply saddened to confirm the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our 9th-grade students on January 25, 2024," he said.
"Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic loss," added the school district official.
The People reported that the main cause of Amari's death is still being investigated by the Kankakee County Coroner's Office. Officials didn't confirm if they would share the cause of death with the public once the investigation is done.
This will depend on the decision of the HS basketball player's family. If they don't want to share the cause of their daughter's death, then it would be best to respect their privacy and peace.
To help her family, Anderson said that counselors and mental health support will be provided to those who "may be grappling with the emotional impact of this tragedy."

Michelle Crite, the HS basketball player's mother created a GoFundMe page to ask for help to cover their daughter's funeral expenses.
"We are asking for any and everyone to help us give her the proper home going she deserves," said Amari's mother.
"No amount too small no amount to big. And most of all we need prayer! Services will be shared when everything is arranged," she added.
Amari's family needs to raise $15,000 to cover her funeral expenses. As of writing, many good-hearted people already donated to them.
