Kate Upton has been taking the modeling industry by storm. The 21-year-old is easily the most buzzed about model, landing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue twice - once in 2012 and again in 2013.

This year Upton landed on the back cover of the 2014 issue posing in a pink two-piece bikini. Models Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge and Chrissy Teigen landed the on "cheeky" front cover. It seems like the entire world is #teamUpton, except Carol Alt.

Dubbed the "original supermodel," Alt has paved the way for today's models but doesn't understand why everyone is so captivated by Upton.

"What I don't understand with Kate is, what's all the hullaballoo?" the 53-year-old told HuffPost Live. "There are many covers of Sports Illustrated - one girl was just wearing a bottom and [no top]. Actually, a couple times no top and one time just beads. I think that was Marisa [Miller, in 2008]."

"I don't get what all the hullabaloo is," Alt said about Upton. "I think what it is, is that in this moment there's just so much social media and that's why she's had more word of mouth than anybody."

Alt then tried to clarify her comments saying that she likes Upton and thinks she's pretty but said "all the girls are nice and all the girls are pretty. And every cover, to me, deserves to be talked about."

This isn't the first time Alt has slammed the blonde beauty. In December she told Galore magazine that she was "unimpressed" with the curvy model and thought she was "the product of great media hype."

"Without Sports Illustrated, I'm not sure she would have made it in the industry as a high fashion model because she is more a large size model," she said.

"And even if I've seen her in person, and I don't think she's in any way fat or overweight or anything. She is just more large size than fashion models are," Alt continued. "I think Kate is very good at hmmm, how do I put it? She's engaging."
