Police tape is seen in front of a police vehicle as Manuel Oliver displays a banner calling on government officials to prioritize gun violence prevention from a construction crane near the White House in Washington, DC, on February 14, 2022. Oliver's son Joaquin Oliver was killed in the Parkland School shooting four years ago today.

A Minneapolis police officer has been removed from duty following allegations that he abandoned an emergency call to get involved in sexual relations with a civilian he met through a dating app.

According to four sources with knowledge of the issue, the six-year patrol officer is still on paid leave pending an investigation, as per the Star Tribune.

Minneapolis Police Officer Under Investigation for Misconduct, Explicit Messages

A Minneapolis police officer is under scrutiny following a series of text messages and alleged misconduct, as reported by the Tribune. The officer, who is 28 years old and currently unidentified, conversed with an undisclosed civilian during an overnight shift. While the exact date remains unknown, the nature of their exchange has raised serious concerns.

From the text messages provided to Internal Affairs, it has been reported that the officer allegedly shared an explicit photo of his genitals and asked the civilian if they would be interested in a sexual encounter with a police officer in uniform. It has been said that the civilians purportedly acquiesced and disclosed their whereabouts, only to make a rather unusual demand for a photograph of the officer's visage.

The conversation continued with the officer taking a selfie from his squad car while in uniform. In what appears to be a suggestive exchange, the civilian reciprocated with an explicit photo of their own. The officer allegedly intended to leave his current assignment to meet the civilian for this rendezvous.

The time stamps on the text messages indicate that this explicit exchange occurred over two-and-a-half hours during the regular working hours of the officer's shift. The 28-year-old typically works the overnight shift, known as the "dogwatch" shift, which usually concludes around 6:30 a.m.

Questions have arisen regarding whether the officer abandoned an emergency call to partake in this late-night encounter. If confirmed, such behavior would constitute a misuse of city resources, potentially resulting in severe consequences for the officer.

The situation reached a critical point when, on October 7, the officer was reportedly escorted from city property upon his arrival for duty, according to Mail Online.

Minneapolis Officer's Suspension Amid Controversy

However, the Minneapolis Police Department has declined to comment or confirm crucial details regarding the officer's suspension. In response to the controversy, the department issued a statement expressing its commitment to taking misconduct allegations seriously.

Chief Brian O'Hara has ordered an investigation into the matter, emphasizing the department's dedication to sharing information that is considered public under state law.

This incident comes shortly after another Minneapolis police officer faced an internal investigation for operating a private OnlyFans account with her husband, using a pseudonym. Allegedly, the officer posted explicit content for paid subscribers, violating the department's off-duty work policy, which prohibits involvement in "adult entertainment" jobs.

Despite the account being in the public domain for nearly a year, the department refrained from commenting on an individual's private life.

After the OnlyFans account was exposed, it is alleged that the officer raised her prices by $20 before eventually deactivating the account. The recent accusations related to Minneapolis police officers have raised concerns regarding their behavior both on and off duty. As a result, there is a need for closer examination of their conduct and off-duty activities, CNN Minn Post reported.
