According to Reuters' latest report, preliminary investigations suggested that the latest mall shooting in Canada is a targeted one.

This means that the injured individuals and the shooter know each other. Via CBC, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said that the shooting happened at around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21.

It specifically took place in the Phase 3 of the mall, which is located on the west side of the Edmonton Mall.

Because of this, the mall was locked down as the police tactical unit cleared the area to make sure that people in the vicinity were safe.

The lockdown was lifted at around 10:00 p.m. EPS officials said that they believe that there are no risk as of the moment.

However, details about the shooter are still unknown yet. Meanwhile, EPS also decided to keep the identity and age of the victims anonymous as they further investigate the shooting.
