Russia claimed on Tuesday to have obliterated one of Ukraine's substantial cross-border assaults in a battle, where more than 70 assailants were reportedly slain, according to sources.

The 24-hour combat took place in the southwest Russian province of Belgorod, located about 80 kilometers (45 miles) north of the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, according to AP News. The recent battle shows that Russia, like the occupied parts of Ukraine, is vulnerable to assaults.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier ordered Belgorod, where military fuel and munition dumps are stored, to be fortified against assaults.

The Kremlin faces hurdles caused by cross-border intrusions, also highlighting its struggles against continuing Ukrainian assault. The fighting between the Moscow and Kyiv forces has spilled over into Belgorod and Bryansk since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Following the armed assault on Monday, a continuous "counter-terrorism operation" was declared to be in progress on Tuesday by Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Ukraine was accused of sabotage by Russia, but the incident in the Grayvoron area bordering Ukraine was claimed by the "Freedom of Russia" Legion and the "Russian Volunteer Corps," two anti-Vladimir Putin groups. Kyiv denied any participation in the attack, according to CNBC.

Belgorod Governor Gladkov confirmed that one lady perished during the evacuation operation. Reports also stated that one local government facility and several residential structures suffered damage from the attack, which left several individuals injured.

Russia Reportedly Bolstering Its Air Force

In other recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, Moscow looks to be forming a new "Shtorm" assault aircraft force for its war against Ukraine, as per a report from USA Today.

The new Russian aircraft force is possibly composed of an assault helicopter squadron and a fighter-bomber squadron, according to the British Defense Ministry's assessment of the conflict.

The reported upcoming Russian aircraft force's principal task is likely to entail ground assault missions based on the aircraft configuration.

The British Defense Ministry further noted that Russian media sources suggest the Russian military plans to attract experienced and motivated pilots by giving considerable monetary incentives and recruiting former pilots.
