Mega Millions Jackpot Prize Nears All-Time Record.

The Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to almost $1.02 billion prize after no tickets matched all six numbers in the drawing on Tuesday night.

The winning numbers drawn on Tuesday were 7, 29, 60, 63, 66, and Mega Ball 15, as reported by the lottery's website.

One ticket sold in Ohio matched five numbers, including the optional Megaplier, to win $3 million despite no tickets sold for the $830 million top prize, according to a report from WSB-TV 2 Atlanta.

Eight other tickets, including two each in New Jersey and New York, one each in California, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio, and two each in New Jersey and New York, matched five numbers to win $1 million.

Since a Tennessee ticket won $20 million in the Mega Millions drawing on April 15, no one has hit the jackpot.

When Is The Next Draw?

The next Mega Millions drawing time is on Friday at 11:00 p.m. EDT. According to the Mega Millions website, if a winning ticket gets identified on that particular day, the $1.02 billion jackpot will rank third among all Mega Millions of jackpot prizes throughout the game's 20-year run.

On October 23, 2018, the biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $1.537 billion, and the winning ticket was purchased in South Carolina, according to a CNN report.

According to the lottery, the biggest Mega Millions prize was $1.537 billion on October 23, 2018, for a ticket purchased in South Carolina. On January 22, 2021, a quartet of players in Michigan took home a $1.05 billion prize.

Around 62 million requests were sent to the Mega Millions website in 24 hours. Tuesday night, the Mega Millions website received so much traffic that shortly after the 11 p.m. drawing, the website briefly went down, though things seemed to get better as traffic decreased.

This year, the Mega Millions jackpots in Tennessee, California, New York, and Minnesota have all won four times.

What Are Your Chances of Winning?

The probability of winning the Mega Millions Jackpot is remarkably slim-about 1 in 302.5 million. The chances of winning a smaller prize, such as $1 million for matching five regular numbers but missing the Mega Ball, are higher. Even still, that represents one in 12.6 million.

A winning bettor will not receive $830 million, even if the person manages to overcome the odds, as per a CBS News report. First, that is, the sum winners who choose the annuity option will get 30 annual installments. However, most prize winners choose cash, which would amount to $488 million in this drawing.

Federal taxes are another factor that would leave gains of $351 million. Depending on where the winner resides, state taxes may also diminish that figure. It is still a significant amount of money, but less wealth.

Additionally, it does not consider the chance that another player would have the Mega Millions Jackpot winning combination, in which case even the lower rewards would need to be divided by two or more, depending on how many lucky players there were.

In addition to Washington, DC, and the US Virgin Islands, Mega Millions is being played in 45 states. State lotteries are in charge of executing the numbers game.
