Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted his response to former US President Donald Trump’s criticism of his announcement of withdrawing his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted his response to former US President Donald Trump's criticism of his decision to withdraw his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

At a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, Trump publicly criticized the tech mogul and called him a "bulls--artist."

Musk took to Twitter in his response to Trump's remarks against him, saying that the time has come for Donald Trump to "hang up his hat & sail into the sunset" because his days as a political leader are over.

Fox Business reported that the multi-billionaire also claimed that Democrats were encouraging Trump's prospective run for president, which he said needed to stop.

Elon Musk tweeted: "Dems should also call off the attack - don't make it so that Trump's only way to survive is to regain the Presidency."

One user asked Musk if he had issues with Trump's administration. The Tesla CEO answered, "Yeah, but too much drama." He added, "Do you really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?"

Musk, 50, also suggested that the "legal maximum age" to start a presidential term should be 69. The Space X founder continued, "Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States."

Donald Trump is 76 years old. If he wins in 2024, he would be 78 and 82 at the end of a second term. President Joe Biden is 79 years old. If he decided to run for reelection in 2024, he would be 81 years old, and if he gets elected, he would be 85 at the end of his term.

Is Musk Going To Support a Republican Presidential Candidate?

While some Twitter users praised Musk's tweets, several users suggested that he should refrain from politics, while others defended Trump.

But Elon Musk made another controversial remark when he predicted a massive red wave is coming in 2022 and suggested he is leaning toward voting for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president, should he decide to run in 2024.

When asked by a Twitter user which potential candidate he leans toward, Musk replied, "DeSantis."

Musk further stated that he previously backed Andrew Yang's presidential campaign; however, he believes Ron DeSantis "has a better chance of winning," as per another Fox Business report.

However, Musk merely stated "TBD" when asked if he would support a Republican for president in 2024.

Ron DeSantis, 43, has not yet declared whether he will run for president in 2024. He has dodged questions and claimed that his name continues showing on lists of probable GOP contenders due to his success in Florida.

What a Tough Day for the Tech Mogul

Musk made his remarks on Trump during a tough day for his companies.

His reusable rocket business, SpaceX, conducted a ground test of a rocket booster in Boca Chica, Texas, which resulted in an unforeseen explosion.

On Monday, Elon Musk also encountered legal pushback from Twitter after attempting to back out of an earlier agreement he made to buy the social network for $54.20 a share. According to Twitter, his justification for ending the agreement was "invalid and wrongful."

Shares of Musk's electric car manufacturer Tesla fell on Monday after Shanghai increased mass testing for Covid in response to news of two dozen additional cases there, per CNBC. The tests sparked worries about a revival and additional lockdowns that would disrupt Tesla's factory operations in China once more.
