Escaped Inmates

The U.S. Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other law enforcement agencies were notified, and an internal investigation was initiated. Authorities revealed some information regarding the four inmates that escaped.

The 41-year-old Branch was sentenced in the Eastern District of Virginia to more than 13 years for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and felon in possession of a firearm. On the other hand, 44-year-old Graham was sentenced in the Eastern District of North Carolina to 10 years for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and 28 grams or more of cocaine base, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, as per ABC News.

The United States Bureau of Prisons announced that the inmates were first reported missing, saying that the suspects walked away from the minimum-security facility. The U.S. Marshals Service said it was encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the inmates to call officials.

According to the New York Post, another similar incident was when three inmates escaped a Missouri jail but were later captured again. The suspects allegedly cut a hole through a ceiling and were identified as Lance Justin Stephens, Matthew Crawford, and Christopher Blevins.

Fatal Incidents

Stephens was being held on drug charges since early May, while Crawford was charged with theft in late April, and Blevins was booked on gun and drug charges. The three men were rearrested in separate incidents.

Authorities said they captured Stephens on Tuesday near San Antonio, Texas, arrested Crawford on Monday in Springfield, Missouri, and took Blevins into custody on June 8 near Casper, Wyoming.

The incidents come after a Texas grandfather, and his four grandchildren were killed by an escaped inmate. Authorities identified the suspect as 46-year-old Gonzalo Lopez, who had no connection to the family. The convict was fatally shot during a Thursday shootout with police after law enforcement personnel spotted a truck that was stolen from the victims' property.

The chief of staff for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Jason Clark, said that he believes the family arrived on Thursdays at the Leon County property and were killed that afternoon. The cause of death of the 66-year-old man and his four grandkids has not been released, NBC News reported.
