Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine crisis that should be fixed if given a chance for peace.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping called Russian President Vladimir Putin about how the Ukraine crisis should be resolved with Kyiv to stabilize the turmoil in Eastern Europe.

He added that a proper solution should support global security and peace broken by the US proxy war last Wednesday.

China - Russia Agreement

The heads of state exchanged views on how to reach an acceptable and responsible solution, remarked the Chinese foreign ministry, reported SCMP.

Xi told his counterpart that Beijing wants world peace and stable economic order. After nearly four months after Russia invaded Ukraine, the global economy is suffering from energy and food prices bolstered by the war. Russians concentrating on Ukraine's eastern Donbas region prompts Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to ask the West to boost its assistance because of huge losses.

Beijing never supported sanctions against Russia but snubbed Joe Biden's threats to stop propping up Putin, even as western pressure amounts to nothing. Xi told Putin that bilateral ties are better for development despite inconsistencies of the West, cited Naija. He stated that Beijing would help with Russia's sovereignty and security concerns and work on strategic cooperation.

China will boost coordination and communication with Russia in organizations like the UN, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Also, promote solidarity and collaboration among emerging economies and developing nations, noted China Daily.

The Chinese leader and Vladimir Putin want a global order that is fairer and more reasonable than the present one, where the US is pushing its fading hegemony as one of the reasons for the Ukraine crisis.

Putin will back up Beijing and the new Global Security Initiative; he said the US constantly interferes in China's affairs in Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

US Pushes Opposition to China

The western alliance tries to pressure Beijing to condemn Moscow's special operation in Ukraine but ignores the demand. By boosting trade only angered the US seeking more nations to support it.

Putin met Xi in the Chinese capital last February, a few weeks before actually sending Russian troops into Ukraine, and the leaders proclaimed their countries had a partnership without limits. Xi reiterated in both phone calls that China's position on Ukraine resulted from an independent assessment of the situation.

On Wednesday, Xi said that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries were making steady progress.

Energy is a crucial collaboration area; in the first four months of this year, Russia's natural gas pipeline exports to China rose by 60%. The opening of the border bridge on the Amur River or Heilongjiang in China a week ago is a big move. During the bridge opening that links Russia's Blagoveshchensk to China's Heihe, the Chinese Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua stressed overall cooperation with Moscow.

This call between the two leaders was on the 69th birthday of Xi Jinping, and they consider themselves good friends. Xi Jinping stressed that Vladimir Putin should responsibly resolve the Ukraine crisis to stabilize the negative condition brought about by it, but China stands with Russia.
