A Korean website MovePlayer posted a leaked image of Samsung's first Tizen-based smartphone featuring a 4.8-inch HD display among other details.

Samsung runs all of its smartphones on Google's popular Android platform. But recent events revealed the tech giant's interest in an alternate platform for its smartphone lineup. A leaked photo on a Korean website shows a Samsung handset running a Linux-based mobile operating system called Tizen, which was first shown at the 2013 Mobile World Congress. Impressed by its debut, Samsung showed an interest in the development of the OS by backing it up along with big players like Intel.

For almost a year now, Samsung did not reveal much about its newest interest, but it seems the tech giant has secretly been making some advances with Tizen. The Korean news site MovePlayer (via PhoneArena) posted a leaked image of what appears to be a Tizen-based Samsung smartphone. It has a model number ZEQ9000, and the site says the handset is Samsung Zeke, which was a name patent (Application Number 4020130057713) filed by Samsung last August.

There is only one picture leaked online, and it resembles Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone. The screen size is not as big as S4.  According to MovePlayer, the smartphone will feature an HD display and will be powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. But the information is just based on an anonymous source and awaits an official confirmation. The smartphone shown in the photo does feature an interface that matches the Tizen UI with flat and aesthetic design along with square and rectangle tiles. But it is different from the Windows Phone UI as the bottom row features buttons like Phone, Contacts, Email and Internet, and the tiles can be scrolled horizontally for more options.

If this report holds any credibility, then Samsung is expected to bring more details about the secretive Zeke smartphone at a press event before MWC or at the main event scheduled for Feb. 23 in Barcelona.
